Welcome to the RCIC Registration Form for St. John Vianney Parish. Please complete all required fields, upload your child's baptismal certificate, and select your preferred Sacramental dates, as applicable. Registration is not complete until this form has been submitted and payment arrangements have been made.

RCIC Schedule 2026-2027
Lessons will occur on Saturday afternoons in October and November 2025 at 3:30-6 p.m. in the parish hall. Lessons use a “Family Lesson” format, which means children will need a parent/guardian to always accompany them and participate in all the lessons with them. The lesson will include a snack and Parish Mass. Please note that students of different ages may be grouped in different classes and each will need their own parent/guardian with them. Please consider inviting a Godparent or close neighbour to help with this 1:1 ratio, if needed.

Please note that attendance at all lessons is mandatory as the program is highly compact. Missing a lesson will result in a significant gap in learning and will compromise preparation for Sacraments. If attendance on all these dates is not possible for your family, please consider waiting until next year to complete this program.

Students in Gr. 2, 3 and 4 will complete baptism / reception in this program and then join their peers in the separate First Communion program run by our Parish.

Students in Gr. 5 and above will complete baptism / reception in this program and then continue in this program to receive their First Reconciliation and First Communion on Saturday, December 12, 2026 at 5 p.m. If the child is in Grade 7 or older, the child may proceed to the separate parish Confirmation program.

Students in Gr. 9 and above will complete baptism / reception in this program, if applicable, as well as First Communion, if applicable, and Confirmation on Saturday, December 12, 2026 at 5 p.m.

Reception- Sponsor Selection
When a child is welcomed into the Catholic Church, up to two sponsors may be selected to help guide and support a child's faith development. A Sponsor must be 16 years of age and a practicing Catholic. Only one is necessary and only one male and one female may be recorded.

Baptism- Godparent Selection
A Godmother/ Godfather must be 16 years of age and a practicing Catholic. Only one is necessary and only one male and only one female may be recorded. If you have only either a Godmother or a Godfather, you may name a "Christian Witness." A "Christian Witness" is a Christian who serves to support a child in their faith development but is not a Catholic.

Confirmation- Sponsor Selection
A Confirmation sponsor must be chosen for the one to be confirmed. If your child is also being received or baptized at the same time as Confirmation, the Godparent should serve as Confirmation sponsor as well. Guidelines stipulate that the Confirmation sponsor should be: - at least 16 years of age - he/she has been fully initiated in the Catholic Church (received Baptism, Holy Communion, and Confirmation) - in good standing with the Catholic Church: live a life of faith which befits the role to be undertaken; not under canonical penalty - not the father or mother of the one to be confirmed Name A Confirmation sponsor must be chosen for the one to be confirmed.
